Family Traditions, Customs & Rituals
In the Aryaveedu Kuttanappilly lineage, there are many customs and rituals that have been passed down through the generations. All these are observed for the spiritual upliftment of the family members and for the strengthening of family ties.
- Kalasa Pooja: Kaappiri is Shiva in Thamo Roopa. On the new moon day of the month of Karkitaka, “Kalasa Pooja” (quenching of thirst) is traditionally performed at Aryaveedu and Kuttanappilly family for Kaappiri and Ancestors.
- Kavadi: From the Sashti day in the month of Makara, the family members fast and go to the Vyttila Subramanya temple for the Thaipooya. This festival is a joyous experience for the younger generation as even family members from far and wide come together in devotion.
- Sabarimala Darshan: For a long time, the family observes from 1st day of Vrishkam (Malayalam Calendar) the Mandalakala vratam, Sastha Pooja and Bhajan followed by Kettunira and the Sabarimala Darshan.
The significance and details of these rituals are included in the specially added sub-menus.
